Woodlodge Montessori School was set up by Meera Sharma in 2000 and she welcomed her first few students, only 4 of them, in April 2001. Woodlodge has grown from strength to strength over the last 8 years and now has over 60 students. Woodlodge is well recognised amongst local private and state schools and has excellent links with the local Early Years Development Team in Hillingdon. Meera is still very active within the Nursery and her role is shared between managing the Nursery and teaching the children. Meera is a keen fund raiser for local and national charities and she encourages the Nursery to host events such as Red Nose day and Pedal Push to give the children a chance to partake.
The Woodlodge team is made up of staff that work with the children, a cook and administration staff. As a Montessori school that provides full day care we endeavour to have on board staff with a variety of qualifications, from Montessori teachers to NVQ 3 in childcare and some who do not hold a formal qualification. This mix of staff, who bring with them a wealth of rich experiences, adds to the overall knowledge that the children gain. We are very keen for all staff to undergo training and continue with professional development. This may be in the form of a NVQ level qualification, training courses provided by Hillingdon Council, in house training or Montessori seminars. We provide a very high staff to child ratio which enables us to maintain closer supervision of the children.
We ensure that our staff are skilled in gaining the confidence of the children, treating them as individuals and with respect and being able to create a loving and caring environment.
Our administration staff deal with all office, fees and admissions queries allowing classroom staff to dedicate their time to being with the children.
